What do you need to know about riding the E-Bikeboard?

Transport
Can I transport the E-Bikeboard on an airplane?
Basically yes: Check for your max. total allowed luggage weight and the maximum weight of one single piece of luggage. I.e. for Swiss Airline, this allowance is 32kg (normally not exceeded by the E-Bikeboard without batteries). The Li/Po batteries, on the other hand, are still not allowed to be transported on passenger airplanes. We therefore recommend to send them separately by a courier service in advance. However, do check with the respective courier service if they are allowed to transport Li/Po batteries of our size.
Can I transport the E-Bikeboard on a train?
In Switzerland, you are allowed to take the E-Bikeboard on a train. The SBB (Swiss National Railways) considers the E-Bikeboard to be a bicycle, so the price you pay is the same as for a bicycle.
Batteries
Does the memory effect also apply to the Li/Po battery?
No, it is practically non-existing. The memory effect is a phenomenon observed in nickel-cadmium-batteries, which suffer from a substantial capacity decrease by frequent partial discharges. Our Lithium Polymer batteries do not have this unpleasant effect.
Why does the Bikeboard not operate with just one battery?
Because the two batteries are connected in series and not in parallel. Consequently, the voltage is double and the current only half, helping to reduce losses.
Does cold temperature reduce the performance of the battery?
Yes. At 0°C/32F the battery has 15% less capacity than at 25°C/77F.
What information do I get from the battery status indicator display?
The indicator display on top of the battery allows you to check the approximate battery status at any time. The digital capacity indicator displays 100% when the battery is fully charged and 0% when the battery is completely empty.
1 x "ON": Battery-Capacity-indication in mAh
2 x "ON": Calculated, remaining driving time in minutes; after charging, an irrelevant theoretical high value is displayed
3 x "ON": Number of load cycles the battery has accumulated already
4 x "ON": Actual voltage of the battery in Volts
5 x "ON": Actual current in amps: neg. prefix = operating current; no prefix = charging current
6 x "ON": Display off. One more push on the button restarts with the battery capacity indication (1)
Please note, the battery capacity indication is linear (not like on most other products), i.e. when reading 50%, you can expect to ride the same distance as you did already (using the battery from 100% down to 50%).
Theft protection
How do I secure the Bikeboard against theft?
The batteries can be locked safely onto the Bikeboard frame with the battery keys, while the main power can be switched on and off with the remote key. Additionally, the Bikeboard features an alarm system, which is enabled by the remote key (red button). To ensure no one just carries your Bikeboards away, you can also use a motorcycle lock or chain to secure the bikeboard to a structure or post (through its diagonal tube from platform to centre tube).
